Travelling Day

Today was fairly non-eventful as it was mostly sent trying to get across Thailand to Koh Phan-gan. After a nice hotel breakfast we collected out laundry (well it actually wasn’t ready the first time, they had to call the place to bring it back asap for us), and we checked out of the hotel.

A dodgy looking minivan finally arrived at 10:30 and took us to a bus depot in Krabi. The minibus was so packed that Danae and I had to ride in the front with the driver. After ginning about for half an hour we boarded a coach for the journey across the island. Most of the seats in the coach were stuck in a permant recline position, making reading during the trip most annoying.

After about 3 hours, the bus stopped in the middle of nowhere and we all piled off. We are not entirely sure why we had to get off the bus, but we sat around for one and a half hours drinking some beers and eating ice cream. Eventually another coach turned up and we all got on. Onboard we watched Mission Impossible 3 as we drove at about 40 km/h to the pier. It was such a slow bus trip and we had no idea why it was like that. Ten minutes before the end of the movie we finally arrived and it was raining (I am going to have to buy MI3 now just so I can see how it ends). We collected our bags quickly and jumped aboard the sad looking boat to Koh Phan-gan. Many beers and cup-a-noodles later and we landed on the island at about 10pm (we were supposed to arrive about 5pm). We were buggered and annoyed at the whole day so after a quick Sawngthaew trip we checked into the hotel and went to bed.
